  1. Clinical trials are made up of interventional and/or observational studies that are conducted with the help of volunteers.
  2. Their main goal is to explore the effectiveness and safety of medical strategies, treatments or devices.
  3. Clinical studies are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies, academic medical centers, and voluntary groups.
  4. Studies can take place in hospitals, doctors’ offices, community clinics and/or universities.
  5. They are led by a principal investigator, who is a medical doctor as well as a research team of various healthcare professionals such as doctors, nurses, social workers
  6. Participating in a clinical trial may give you access to possible new treatment options not yet available to the public, a better understanding of your condition and allow you to help further medical knowledge.
  7. All medicines, treatment strategies, and medical devices go through a rigorous process before reaching the pharmacy or your medicine cabinet at home.
  8. The approach being tested may or may not be better than current standard care.
  9. 95% of clinical trial participants stated they would like to participate in another trial.
